Who We Are
The idea for what became Bryn Mawr Terrace arose in the 1950s when Richard McClatchy, Sr.’s father fell ill, and there were no skilled nursing facilities on the Main Line with a homelike setting. With the help of his sons, Richard Jr., James, and Paul, Richard Sr. made plans for such a facility. Bryn Mawr Terrace Convalescent Center opened on June 27, 1966. Keeping pace with the demand for services, the facility was expanded in 1968 and again in 1988.
The people-to-people caring connection and elegant accommodations Bryn Mawr Terrace has been known for continue under new leadership. As a non-profit organization, we have more access to resources that enrich the quality of care provided to skilled nursing and personal care residents. Generous support from individuals, corporations, and foundations allows for increased staff training, facility improvements, and much more.
Bryn Mawr Terrace Convalescent remained owned and operated by the McClatchy Center family for over 40 years. In April 2007, the facility became a non-profit organization known simply as Bryn Mawr Terrace.
The building and programs at Bryn Mawr Terrace have been uniquely designed to enrich the lives of our residents. To accommodate the variety of therapeutic recreation programming, Bryn Mawr Terrace has four lounges, an activities room, and multiple outdoor patios. Ample private areas are available for residents to entertain visitors.
Bryn Mawr Terrace takes great pride in providing excellent food and exceptional service to all residents. A dietitian meets individually with each resident to customize a nutritional plan focusing on the individual’s likes and needs. Our dedicated dining services team strives to provide first class service for every meal, whether it is daily lunch or one of our many special events.
With a reputation for fine cuisine and attention to service, Bryn Mawr Terrace offers an outstanding dining experience. All meals are served in a beautifully appointed dining room where our trained servers take time to assist residents with daily menu choices. Guests are always welcome in the dining room and treated to the same great service offered to our residents.
