Who We Are

The idea for what became Bryn Mawr Terrace arose in the 1950s when Richard McClatchy, Sr.’s father fell ill, and there were no skilled nursing facilities on the Main Line with a homelike setting. With the help of his sons, Richard Jr., James, and Paul, Richard Sr. made plans for such a facility. Bryn Mawr Terrace Convalescent Center opened on June 27, 1966. Keeping pace with the demand for services, the facility was expanded in 1968 and again in 1988.

The people-to-people caring connection and elegant accommodations Bryn Mawr Terrace has been known for continue under new leadership. As a non-profit organization, we have more access to resources that enrich the quality of care provided to skilled nursing and personal care residents. Generous support from individuals, corporations, and foundations allows for increased staff training, facility improvements, and much more.

Bryn Mawr Terrace Convalescent remained owned and operated by the McClatchy Center family for over 40 years. In April 2007, the facility became a non-profit organization known simply as Bryn Mawr Terrace.
